A visitor to the Outhouses of America Tour web site sent me some photographs of his Outhouses. Here they are...

The Old Outhouse; God Rest Her Soul! Photo by P. Bobe | Inside the Old Outhouse Photo by P. Bobe |
The history of the old outhouse is a little sketchy. They know it was built about 1929 by friends that went to their cottage. They still used the Outhouse when the power went out (no water) but the old one was getting dangerous so they decided to replace it. The old one was cremated and buried after an extensive photo session. They did save the hole for a picture frame. It was a good thing they built the new one because the week they did there was a tornado and the power was out for 5 days and did it get used; all the people on the point used it! Shown below is the new Outhouse.

The new design was taken from a toy Outhouse incense burner (do you believe it?) with a few modifications. I'd say the new Outhouse turned out great, wouldn't you? They built the new Outhouse during the summer of 1999 in Northern Wisconsin. |
What else can you see in the images shown? Many times a photo is worth a thousand words and I've only elaborated with a few so here is your chance to add some "color commentary" to my collection. If your addition is worthy, you will find the quote added on the Comments to the Curator page. You can use Email to respond. If you choose to go to the Comments to the Curator page, be prepared to relax with a large beverage of your choice. The reading is spectacular! |
