Charles Cook's Family Outhouse
Charles Cook's Family Outhouse
Photo taken by the Cook Family
Donated by Charles Cook

Charles is my Outhouse Digging expert and a frequent contributor. He sent me this picture and here are his words describing it...
I knew I had this outhouse in a photo somewhere. This is of me and my Aunt Nell Cook taken in Grant County, Oklahoma around 1940-41. Aunt Nell is 87 years old now (2008), in California. Time flys! This was a two-holer, with one hole cut small for kids. It was my first recalled experience with an outhouse. It was rather fancy, with a little cupola and always freshly painted with white paint. It looked so nice that the other kids on Nell’s school bus asked her what it was, embarrassing her greatly. Like all of these little stinkers, it lost its primness when one went inside, and there were old catalogues for use in there.

What else can you see in the images shown? Many times a photo is worth a thousand words and I've only elaborated with a few so why don't you add some "color commentary" to my collection. If your addition is worthy, you will find the quote added on the Comments to the Curator page.
