The pictures of the Outhouses above were sent to me by Mr. Fischer. While doing research for his book "The Barns of Ventura County" he, of course, came across some very interesting Outhouses. These photos were taken while he was traveling in Ventura County in California. He photographed every barn in the County (156 of them) as well as these Outhouses. The top (#1) Outhouse is located in Ventura County California. It was built in 1886 on the Gottlieb Maulhardt Farm in Oxnard. #2 The first red outhouse was the first building built on the George Washington Faulkner farm in 1896. For convenience, it is a three-holer. How's that for a friendly get together? #3 The second red outhouse is located on the Craig Held farm in Santa Paula and was also built in the 1890's. #4 is a photo of an Outhouse on the Mary Howard farm in what is now Camarillo, California. | |
