The inside of the WPA Outhouse

This Outhouse belonged to my Great Grandparents and was built by the WPA. The number of holes (2) was determined by the number of bedrooms in a house at that time. It has remained on the family property in Milton, W. VA. since that time.
Last year, in 2002), we had planned a family reunion. My father, brother, sister-in-law, cousin, nephews and I decided to try and have it functional for the event.
We moved it across the road to the property where my father lives (still part of the original farm). As you can see, it became quite a family project. They even painted the "Coat of Arms" on the door.
It was a big hit at the reunion with those of us who remembered when it was the only option we had. As you might guess, the younger generation wasn't quite as thrilled. Too Bad!
Thanks Dad, Jack, Robert, Ann and the boys! |

What else can you see in the images shown? Many times a photo is worth a thousand words and I've only elaborated with a few so why don't you add some "color commentary" to my collection. If your addition is worthy, you
will find the quote added on the Comments to the Curator
page. |
